Essence Festival 2017 Recap — Saved By D Bell

Attending Essence Festival has been on my bucket list for years and I am ecstatic I finally got the opportunity to experience it. This magazine has been the bible for Black women for decades. I think we all can agree this where we go for fashion tips, dating advice and the latest trends on hair and make-up and just some good ole’ girl chat.

Essence Festival 2017 was the center of black girl magic and inspiration. If you didn’t already believe that black women were supernatural, you definitely left there feeling like black women could do anything, and that our dreams were obtainable. This was the year of Black film and television, which has made an extraordinary come back in the past few years. I had the pleasure of hearing commentary from the cast of “Star”, “Queen Sugar”, “Survivor’s Remorse” and “Insecure”. I even snagged a picture with Jay Ellis who plays the character of Lawrence on “Insecure, while on the streets of NOLA.

It was just very uplifting to see so many Black faces in one place as we all promoted nothing but positivity. Check out some of my highlights of the whole weekend below!!!
