Ebony & Marcus 'Drunk In Love' In the D.R.

Recently I was able to coin the term “Match-Maker” as I witnessed Ebony & Marcus tie the knot in the Dominican Republic. They are the inspiration behind my dating service, “Dating With Dannie”. They are my very first match-maker clients, and yes it was a success. I got it right on the first try. Let me tell you a bit about how their love story began.

I have been friends with Marcus since 2004. We met in college and have been rolling tough ever since then. Marcus has always been a laid back guy who pours his soul into work and really never focused much on finding love. He has dated a few here and there, but was never able to make it to that serious step, until he received services from “Dating With Dannie”.

Ebony and I started out as work friends, in 2011 and our work relationship began to blossom into a real friendship.  As I got to know her more and more she seemed like a really cool chick and we started hanging out. Like many women, she had dated her fair share of duds and was really over the whole dating scene and really wanted to find a nice guy who loved her. She had previously been in a long-term relationship that went nowhere and the more and more I got to know her light bulbs started to off in my head.

In March 2012 I got the crazy idea to hook these two up on a blind date. I did not know if it would work, but I was sure I could convince them to at least go out on a date, they had nothing to lose. After speaking with both of them, they obliged.  I thought to myself that was too easy, so I sent them to Mojoe for drinks and it took off from there.

Now their road to marriage wasn’t easy and it took some time for them to get there and to be honest, Marcus was a bit resistant. He had never been in love before and sometimes being in love is a scary place because it causes you to be vulnerable and it opens you up to be hurt. Experiencing hurt was one of Marcus’s fears, but with a little bit of pushing and advice from yours truly he was able to face his fears and just let it go.

Now ladies, Ebony wasn’t perfect either. She was a bit shy and reserved and she had to find a balance between being true to herself and this big personality that Marcus has. Through a lot of love and encouragement and Marcus pushing her along the way, Ebony eventually found her way through Marcus’s big personality. Marcus always pushed Ebony out of her comfort zone in an effort to inspire Ebony to be the best Ebony she can be!!

Marriage is beautiful and can bring you a lot of joy. Finding the right person takes patience, openness and compromise. Finding the right guy or woman will not happen overnight (God I wish it would), but when you do find that special someone it will take work.
