All My Friends Are Married…. WHAT ABOUT ME?
Now that I have entered my 30s most of my close friends are married and many of them have at least one child. As most of my friends have entered this stage of their life, I can’t help but wonder where do I fit into the equation.
Like most women, the desire for a husband and kids is always in the front, middle and the back of my mind. Fear of never making it to this final stage is real!!!
As a newly single girl in a new city trying to explore and make my rounds, I can’t help but think of what my life would be like if I were married with kids. Would I be happy? Is marriage worth the sacrifice? Is it all that it is cracked up to be?
I try to not to think about it much, because it is something that is out of my control and must be left to God. What I do know single ladies, is you can’t wait around twirling your thumbs hoping and praying he appears out of thin air. Here is what you should be doing to prepare yourself for Mr. Right:
1.) Find Your Passion – What is that you truly enjoy? What’s your passion project? An easy way to figure this out is to imagine your dream job. For instance, my dream job is to be working as a pop culture journalist so relaunching this blog helps me channel this desire.
2.) Get Out and Meet New People – One thing a man can’t stand is a clingy chick. Now once you guys are in relationship and have fallen in love then yes, your relationship will more than likely occupy your time, but while you guys are in the getting to know each other stages no man wants to be with a woman that is just sitting around like a couch potato waiting for him.
3.) Travel – Exploring the World is important. As you are exposed to different things and you see more and have more life experiences, this creates a better you. Travel expands your mind and helps you become cultured and more open minded.
4.) Explore Your City and Try New Things – Whether it’s trying a new restaurant or spending time on a different part of town, you must get out and see what your city has to offer.
5.) Get Spiritually Connected – I never understood how people could live in this World and have no spiritual connection to God. Man is imperfect and will disappoint you. It is important to have a strong spiritual belief, so when the disappointment does happen, you will have someone to help and guide you. If you plan on being in a relationship trust me you are going to need this.
